Award-Worthy Movies

Award-Worthy Movies

It may be a long shot, but our money’s on American Hustle for Sunday’s big win.

Controversial? Yes. Will we lose our money? Maybe. But we still believe that Academy Award®-nominated Drive (Best Achievement in Sound Editing) was just ahead of its time. And we love Julia Roberts, but we still think Ellen Burstyn was shortchanged for her “Best Actress in a leading role” nom for Requiem for a Dream.

Sometimes we guess wrong, but we cope with our bitterness by re-watching all our favorite prior award-season contenders — from The Buddy Holly Story to Midnight Express — and we’re satisfied knowing that from the comfort of home, there’s no tuxedo required.
